Significance of Managerial Communication on Employee Engagement

Communication is the cornerstone of an engaged workforce. Effective communication can increase employee engagement, boost workplace productivity, and drive business growth. And there’s no time like the present to enhance communication within your organization. In this blog, I will dive a little into the vast ocean of a topic that is managerial communication. I'll attempt to touch on all the significant aspects of the issue and offer some actionable steps to improve communication to achieve employee engagement (Dutta 2021).

Managerial Communication

Managerial communication is the exchange of information between individuals inside and outside of an organization. These interactions are carried out for the advantage of the organization's business interests. Furthermore, it may be described as the dissemination of information inside a company by its employees. Briefly said, it is the dissemination of information, knowledge, ideas, and sentiments both inside and outside of an organization. Encouragement of a work atmosphere that allows for the open and simple exchange of ideas, opinions, and feedback is part of this process. Because of this, it brings the whole workforce together and motivates them to work towards a shared goal: the improvement and success of the company (Men 2014).

Employee Engagement

Employee engagement is a strategy for success. Employee engagement is critical to business performance and should be a management focus. Employee effort and performance determine corporate success. Managers must grasp the elements that drive employee engagement. This is crucial since employers are asking more from their employees than ever. Keeping employees engaged is important for business success (Kapoor and Meachem 2012). Maintaining loyal, effective workers while managing profitability becomes a challenge for executives, driving the need to understand employee engagement factors. While apparent support, work qualities, and value equivalency seem to be drivers of employee engagement, management communication appears to impact both the process and the outcome. Employee performance includes communication (Sharma and Kaur 2014).

Why Managerial Communication is more important on employee engagement?

Communication is a vital tool that may help any company succeed. Engaged employees produce more productive businesses. Also, management communication is critical to a motivated team. The personnel are a company's most important asset and determines its success or failure. Engaged personnel are more likely to show the devotion and commitment required for any company's long-term success (Srivastava 2019). Finding efficient methods to communicate with workers is one of today's most tough tasks. Employees, managers, senior executives, and other stakeholders value clear communication. As shown in the image below, these five best practices may assist improve open, honest, and successful two-way communication.

Conclusion

Employee engagement is becoming more dependent on the effectiveness of communication between leaders/managers and their staff. Communication techniques concerning career development and management, in particular, may be critical to maintaining a current workforce and motivating people to achieve at their highest levels (Srivastava 2019).

A successful communication strategy can vary from company to company depending on the size, location, demographics of employees, etc. ; however, there are some universal best practices that apply to every program. An important way to ensure effective communication with employees is to hold managers accountable as communication leaders and ask them to ask for employee feedback.

According to Larkin and Larkin (1994, p xi) there are three ways to communicate with employees: 1)Communicate directly to supervisors, 2) Use face-to-face communication, and 3) Communicate relative performance of the local work area. It is clear that communicating is what managers spend a lot of the day doing.
